One area of games design that particularly interests me is tutorials. Much of this comes from my time working on APB, which had a very poor tutorial. With hands tied, efforts were made to improve it but it ultimately failed quite spectacularly. Inspired by this I am looking at a range of games, including APB, and seeing how their tutorials and initial user experience success or fail in teaching the player. My goal here is to develop a stronger understanding of the building blocks for a tutorial.
